Rudra: The Edge Of Darkness: Ajay Devgn On His Digital Debut, 'For An Actor, It’s Not The Medium But The Content That Matters'
During a virtual event today, actor Ajay Devgn opened up about his digital debut Rudra: The Edge of Darkness, a crime drama series. The show is mounted on a large scale and will be shot across iconic locales of Mumbai.
On April 20 this year, the Singham actor announced his digital debut with a first-ever crime-drama series Rudra- The Edge of Darkness on Disney + Hotstar VIP. The series will be directed by Ferrari Ki Sawaari and Marathi film Ventilator director, Rajesh Mapuskar and the 52-year-old actor will be seen in an intense and gritty new cop avatar.
Speaking about his digital debut the actor said, “For an actor, it’s not the medium but the content that matters. We really want people to see our work and appreciate it. Also, digital space is so huge today and is only growing further. The reach is also tremendous and there is some great content. That’s what excited me. It doesn’t matter where you do it, it’s all about what you do.”
The actor also reveals the reason behind doing the show, he asserts, "I had watched the original much before the script came to me. The scale and design has been maintained, the way it ought to be. It’s not forced, it doesn't take away the essence of the show, so there was no apprehension about saying yes. He further adds, "Rudra is a very well-written, gritty, and realistic show. It also really works for me because the character is grey. Nobody wants to watch a nice guy, while controversies go on and on."
Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn awaits the release of his next film Bhuj: The Pride of India which will release on Disney Plus Hotstar on August 13. The film also features Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Nora Fatehi, and Amy Virk.
